With the increasing demand for rapid and effective chilling of various raw food products, Thor Ice has developed innovative ice slurry systems through years of extensive engineering, mechanical, biological and business knowledge and experience. Thor Ice has run extensive tests in collaboration with respected scientists, institutes, and industry partners, that have confirmed the system‘s effectiveness in chilling and decontamination, thereby extending shelf life and increasing food safety. In 2019, Thor Ice was chosen by EIT Food to join their RisingFoodStars organisation, an elite group of highly innovative start-ups whose innovations have a high potential of transforming the food system. In 2020, Thor Ice secured funding from NEFCO, one of only 2 Icelandic companies to do so in the organisation‘s 30 years‘ history. Thor Ice also secured a Fast Track to Innovation grant as part of the EU‘s largest research and innovation program, Horizon 2020.
