We are a non-profit organization in Reykjavik, Iceland, innovating citizen participation since 2008 and we've had great results in connecting governments and citizens in meaningful constructive ways. In our experience citizens love co-operating on improving their cities and neighborhoods and the results are quite positive. We were awarded for our efforts with Better Reykjavik in 2011, winning the European e-Democracy Awards as well as several local awards in 2011 and 2012. In 2015 a forum of the mayors of the Nordic capitals awarded our Better Neighborhoods project in Reykjavík the Nordic Best Practice 2015 award. Our ideas about new ways to connect people together to participate in democracy, politics and civic life were born after Iceland’s economic and trust collapse in 2008. Since then we’ve developed open source tools and methods to promote online, democratic debate and to increase citizens’ participation in their community in Iceland and worldwide. We're also always open to collaborations on interesting projects, presenting our achievements and plans at conferences and other gatherings and doing workshops on eDemocracy, Participatory budgeting and how to increase citizen participation and awareness. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need help to improve your community.
